Chicago Lakeshore Hospital: The NAMI Scientific Research Award
by Chicago Lakeshore Hospital
Chicago Lakeshore Hospital in Illinois administers drug treatment programs and psychiatric services to children, adolescents and adults. Committed to community outreach, Chicago Lakeshore Hospital supports the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the largest grassroots organization in the country that works to raise the quality of life for people with a mental illness. Each year, the organization sponsors an award for scientific advocacy and research.
In 2013, the NAMI Scientific Research Award will be presented on November 14 at the House of Sweden in Washington, D.C. Attendees of the invitation-only event will include leading figures in science and research, along with members of the media and leaders in government, business, and education. During the event, NAMI will honor a number of Congress members who have successfully advocated for individuals with mental illness.
Last year’s winner of the Scientific Research Award, Nancy C. Andreasen, MD, PhD, is a pioneer in the use of magnetic resonance imaging to understand mental illness.
